The Longboard Trade-Off

Every log makes you pick a problem.

Traditional longboards force a choice between heavy-and-fragile or cheap-and-soggy. The San O refuses both.

The fiberglass log
Heavy & Fragile
  • 25 lb+ to wrestle down the beach
  • Dings, cracks and pressure dents
  • $1,000+ and precious about every rock
The foam soft-top log
Soggy & Draggy
  • Open-cell foam soaks up water — heavy and wet
  • Draggy bottom kills your glide and trim
  • Too flexy to ever walk the nose
The 9'6″ San O
Light, Tough & Glides
  • Just 20 lb — watertight molded foam, never waterlogs
  • 101L glides like a glassed log, no drag
  • Triple-stringer stiffness — solid enough to nose-ride

Built To Hold A Line

A 9'6″ log that weighs twenty pounds.

Catching waves is the easy part on a board this big. The San O is engineered so it still rides like a real longboard once you're up and walking.

  1. 1

    Solid, watertight core

One piece of molded foam, completely sealed. Ding it and it won't soak up water or delaminate — it stays 20 lb, session after session.

  2. 2

    Triple stringer system

Three stringers run the length of the board, giving a 9'6″ deck the stiffness it needs to hold its shape while you walk to the nose.

  3. 3

    Wax-free shark-skin deck

Custom molded texture grips wet from tail to nose — so cross-stepping has traction everywhere, with no wax to melt in the car.

  4. 4

    Hand-finished 60/40 rails

Finished by hand for proper hold in the wave face — the difference between trimming clean and sliding out.

One Board, Three Stages

Learn on it. Log on it for years.

A true longboard for 1–4ft waves. The San O has the easiest learning curve in the lineup — and the glide to keep rewarding you long after.

Beginner

The easiest learning curve

101L of float and a wide, flat deck make this the most forgiving board we sell. You'll catch waves the first day and have room to spare.

Intermediate

Cross-stepping & trim

The stiffness and 60/40 rails let you trim down the line and start cross-stepping toward the nose — real longboarding, not just survival.

Advanced

Noseriding & cruising

High volume and a wide nose make a stable platform to perch and hang five. On small days, this is the most fun board in the water.

"I'm 52 and started from zero. Stood up the first morning. There's so much float you almost can't miss a wave — they really did nickname it the aircraft carrier."

"Caught myself walking to the nose by week three. It's stiff enough to actually log — I didn't expect that from a foam board. And carrying 20 lb is a joke compared to my old glasser."

"This is the loaner I hand every friend who wants to try. It's been dropped, dinged, and left in the sun all summer. Still watertight, still glides. Bulletproof."

Take the Board Quiz
Will this fit in my car? +
At 9'6″ this is a big board — it usually needs roof racks or a truck/van. Please measure your vehicle interior before ordering if you plan to fit it inside. The upside: at 20 lb it's far easier to load and carry than a fiberglass log.
Can I really nose-ride it? +
Absolutely. The high volume and wide nose make a stable platform for learning to cross-step and perch on the nose, and the triple-stringer core is stiff enough to hold its shape while you walk.
Is it heavy to carry? +
It weighs about 20 lb — significantly lighter than a traditional fiberglass longboard of the same size, which makes it much easier to carry to the beach and load on a rack.
Is it good for a total beginner? +
It's the easiest board we make to learn on. With 101L of float you'll catch waves the first session and have plenty of stability to stand up. It's equally happy under an experienced logger on a small day.
Do I need wax? +
No. The molded shark-skin deck texture grips when wet across the whole board — no wax to apply and nothing to melt in a hot car.
What size waves does it like? +
It's a true longboard built for small to medium surf — roughly 1–4ft. That's where the glide, the trim and the nose-rides all come alive.
