The #1 Beginner Surfboard
Your first real surfboard. Not your last.
The 8'0″ DOHO paddles fast like a hardtop, shrugs off dings like a foamie, and has the rocker and fins to keep up once you start turning. The board you learn on — and don't outgrow by summer's end.
Four things separate the DOHO from the foamie at the big-box store — and they're the four things you feel on every wave.
1
Performance Foam core
A solid, watertight molded core. Ding it and it won't soak up water or delaminate — the rigidity is what gives you real hardtop glide.
2
Molded stringer system
Embedded wooden stringers give the board the pop and flex pattern of a glassed surfboard, so it drives off the bottom instead of flexing dead.
3
Wax-free shark-skin deck
A custom molded texture grips wet, all over the deck — no wax to melt in your car, no bald patch to slip on.
4
Hand-finished rails
60/40 rails finished by hand for proper water release and turning speed — not the blunt glued seam of a cheap soft-top.
One Board, Three Stages
The board you grow into, not out of.
The DOHO is our most versatile shape — it works in 1ft mush to 5ft peelers. Here's the same board, three skill levels deep.
Beginner
First waves & standing up
78L of float means you catch waves on your first paddle and a wide, stable platform to pop up on with confidence. Soft deck, no wax, no bruises.
Intermediate
Improving turns & style
As you find your feet, the rocker and 2+1 fin setup let you angle down the line, start trimming, and link your first real turns.
Advanced
Your go-to small-wave board
It never leaves the quiver. On knee-high mush days the DOHO is the most fun board in the car — fast, loose, and impossible to break.

"Rented soft-tops for two summers and never got past whitewater. Stood up on my second wave on the DOHO. The paddle speed is stupid good."

Designed With The Ocean In Mind
The original recyclable boards.
When your DOHO has lived its life — or you're ready to size up — send it back and we'll recycle it for you, and credit your next board. Closed-cell foam, built in Huntington Beach since 1961.
Yes — it's our #1 recommendation for learning. The 78L of volume makes paddling easy and the rigid, stable platform helps you pop up with confidence. If you're over 6'2″ or near 265 lbs, consider sizing up to the 9'6″ San O.
Do I really not need wax? +
Correct. The deck has a custom molded shark-skin texture that grips when wet across the whole board. No wax to apply, and nothing to melt in a hot car.
How durable is it vs. a fiberglass board? +
Significantly more durable. No board is indestructible, but the high-density Performance Foam takes impacts, dings and tumbles that would crack or snap a traditional fiberglass board — and it won't soak up water if you do ding it.
What size waves does the DOHO work in? +
It's our most versatile shape — happy in everything from 1ft mush to 5ft peelers. That range is exactly why it stays in the quiver long after you've learned.
What's included, and is shipping really free? +
Your board ships with a 9″ center fin and two Futures side fins — a full 2+1 set, free. U.S. shipping is free for a limited time on Formula Fun boards in the continental USA. A leash is a quick add-on, or bundle it and save.
Which color should I get? +
All four ride identically — pick your vibe: Del Mar blue, Mellow Yellow, Rojo Rocket red, or Blackout. They sell through fast, so grab the one you want when it is in stock.
Foamies have more fun.
The board that paddles like a hardtop and survives your worst session. Catch waves easily, progress faster, and don't buy twice.
